Despite its reputation as a somewhat traditional spirit, Scotch whisky offers incredible diversity of flavour, with single malts and blends ranging from elegant, floral expressions to rich, fruity and chocolatey drams.

Since opening in 2005, Islay’s only farm distillery has become an integrated part of the Scottish island’s whisky family. Kilchoman Machir Bay is a peated, no-age-statement single malt named after the breathtakingly stunning beach on the island’s west coast, a two-kilometre stretch of white sand and rugged, windswept coastline. Matured in a combination of 90% Bourbon barrels and 10% oloroso Sherry casks, Machir Bay is a fresh, lively and delicately smoky whisky, reminiscent of its namesake location.

Serving Suggestions: Best served neat or with lots of ice and soda water in a Highball. Add a lemon twist to garnish.

Tasting Notes

The nose is fresh, floral and herbaceous with a sweet, gentle smoke that clings to creamy lemon meringue pie. On the palate there’s a rush of citrus and stone fruits, with vanilla-laced custard creams and a delicate smoke that becomes ashy and slightly salty toward the finish.
